Chapter 01

It Started With a Different Problem

Before the ERP platforms, the mobile applications, and the enterprise portals, there were security systems. CCTV cameras installed across government facilities. Automated entry gates at enterprise campuses. Time attendance infrastructure for large private sector organizations. Parking management systems, digital signage, people counting solutions. The kind of technology that operates quietly in the background of every well-run organization, and becomes visible only when something fails.

For more than a decade, Smart Digital Security Solutions Company built its reputation by making sure things did not fail. That reputation is the foundation on which TechQode was eventually built. But the path between the two is the story worth understanding.

Long before Smart Digital existed, Mr. Abdul Hameed Mousa was working inside Saudi Arabia's technology and security sector as a Technical Supervisor. His career began in the early 2000s, and the work put him close to real business environments, real clients, and real implementation challenges.

He was not observing the industry from a distance. He was in it, understanding how technology actually performed when it met the pressures of daily operations.

In 2011, after accumulating more than a decade of that experience, he founded Smart Digital Security Solutions Company in Jeddah. The company focused on physical security and automation: CCTV surveillance, electronic gates, time attendance, people counting systems, parking management, and digital signage. These were not peripheral technologies. For government buildings, hospitals, airports, retail chains, and enterprise facilities, they were essential infrastructure.

Smart Digital earned its clients the same way most durable companies do. Not through promises, but through consistent delivery. Government contracts followed. Large private sector projects followed. Relationships with organizations across sectors, some of the most recognizable names in Saudi Arabia, were built one project at a time.

Trust was earned through execution. And over many years, that trust accumulated into something the company had not originally anticipated.

Chapter 02

Then Customers Asked for More

There is a pattern in technology companies that earn genuine customer trust. Once clients feel that a partner truly understands their environment, they begin bringing larger problems to that same partner.

For Smart Digital, that began to happen gradually. Clients who had relied on the company for security and automation infrastructure started asking whether Smart Digital could also help with software. Accounting systems. Inventory management. Sales tracking. Digital platforms.

Smart Digital was already facilitating some software solutions through a network of local and international partners. But the requests were increasing, and their nature was becoming more specific. Clients were not simply asking for software. They were asking for software that would work in the Saudi context, delivered by a partner who already understood how their operations were structured.

That distinction mattered. The difference between a software vendor and a technology partner who understands your environment is significant. Smart Digital had spent years becoming the latter for its clients in the hardware and security space. The question emerging was whether that same depth of relationship could extend to software and digital solutions.

The clients who had trusted Smart Digital with their physical security infrastructure began asking for something more.

Chapter 03

The Market Was Also Changing

By 2018, the external environment was reinforcing what the company was already hearing from its clients.

The Saudi government introduced VAT that year, which required businesses across the Kingdom to implement compliant financial and reporting systems many of them did not yet have. Saudi Vision 2030 was simultaneously accelerating digital transformation across industries, institutions, and government entities at a pace the market had not previously experienced.

Smart Digital was watching this transformation from close range. The demand for digital solutions was not emerging from trend reports. It was arriving in conversations with the same clients the company had been serving for years, from organizations that already trusted Smart Digital with their physical infrastructure and were now asking whether that same reliability could extend to their digital operations.

The direction was becoming clear. The question was how to respond to it properly.

Chapter 04

Building the Capability to Respond

Delivering software through external partners had limitations. Coordination across multiple vendors introduced friction. Control over quality and delivery timelines was indirect. The ability to tailor solutions to the specific requirements of Saudi clients, and to integrate software meaningfully with existing hardware infrastructure, was constrained.

The decision was made to build the capability internally.

In December 2019, TechQode (Private) Limited was established as an Innovation Center through a strategic partnership. Its purpose was specific: to develop locally managed, high-quality software solutions tailored to the requirements of businesses operating in Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

Pakistan was chosen as the location for the Innovation Center for reasons that had nothing to do with convenience. The country has, over many years, developed one of the most capable technology talent ecosystems serving businesses across the Middle East, Europe, and North America. Skilled engineers, experienced designers, and software specialists with the depth to build enterprise-grade solutions. Combined with Pakistan's established position as a leading destination for software development and innovation, it offered the right foundation for building and sustaining the kind of capability TechQode required.

The model was straightforward in concept, though complex in execution: regional market understanding and client relationships on one side; access to strong technology talent on the other. Together, the capability to build and sustain software solutions that actually fit how Saudi businesses operate.

The goal was to give Smart Digital's clients something rarely offered by a single provider: hardware and software delivered together, by a partner who understood their environment from the inside.

Chapter 05

Building Through Uncertainty

MAR2020COVID-19 changes the operating environment

For a new organization still establishing its team, its infrastructure, and its operating foundation, the timing was as difficult as it could have been. Global lockdowns disrupted normal business operations across every sector. Customer engagement slowed. Project pipelines became uncertain. The conditions under which TechQode had expected to begin developing its capabilities had fundamentally changed.

The organization adapted. Remote working was established. Investment in capability continued. Smart Digital's backing provided the stability needed to focus on the long term rather than react to short-term disruption. The team remained committed to what had been set out to build.

Those years embedded something important into how the organization operates. Adaptability here is not a value statement. It is something the team learned under real conditions during a period when the easier option would have been to slow down and wait.

Chapter 06

The Moment the Vision Was Tested

In 2022, Smart Digital was awarded a project by the Human Resources Development Fund, HRDF, one of Saudi Arabia's most significant government-aligned institutions.

The brief was to design, develop, and implement a student consultation portal serving universities and colleges across the Kingdom. It was not a simple deployment. The platform needed to serve a large and diverse institutional user base, perform reliably at scale, and be maintained over time. The contract included a three-year program of continuous enhancement, maintenance, and support, reflecting the level of long-term commitment the client expected.

The portal was delivered. Educational institutions and stakeholders responded positively.

The HRDF project demonstrated that TechQode could design, build, and sustain enterprise-grade digital solutions for organizations operating at meaningful scale inside Saudi Arabia. It was the kind of proof that cannot be manufactured through marketing. It came from doing the work under real conditions for a demanding client with high institutional expectations.

What had been a belief about TechQode’s capability became something more durable: evidence.

Chapter 07

A Broader Technology Identity

As TechQode's software capability expanded, Smart Digital continued to grow its security and automation business in parallel. Demand from individual customers and smaller businesses for security solutions had also been increasing. Smart Digital responded by creating a dedicated team focused specifically on this segment, providing consultation, installation, maintenance, and after-sales support for CCTV, access control, time attendance, and smart parking systems.

The logic was consistent with how Smart Digital had always approached its work. Separate segments served by dedicated specialists deliver a better client experience than everything handled through a single generalist structure.

On the software side, the portfolio continued to expand. ERP, POS, HR and payroll systems, e-commerce platforms, mobile applications, custom development, cloud solutions, artificial intelligence, and business automation. The evolution was not random. Each addition reflected a need that clients had identified, a gap in what the Saudi market was adequately providing, or a capability that strengthened the integrated offering.

In 2025, Smart Digital formalized the software capability into a dedicated brand. SmartQodes was established as the group's software innovation arm, focused exclusively on software solutions and digital transformation for clients in Saudi Arabia and beyond. It brought the growing capability under a specialized identity built to operate at a larger scale and serve a wider market.

Today the group operates through several specialized entities. TechQode serves as the technology development headquarters and Innovation Center. Smart Digital is the Saudi Arabia office anchoring the security and enterprise client relationships built since 2011. SmartQodes handles software consulting and digital transformation across the Kingdom. NuvaQode extends the group’s reach into the UAE from Dubai. Each entity has a defined role. Together they represent a technology organization that can deliver hardware, software, and integrated digital solutions from a single group with a shared commitment to quality and after-sales support.

Chapter 08

From Saudi Arabia, Outward

The next chapter is already underway.

The group is expanding into the UAE, the UK, Australia, and the United States. The motivation is strategic rather than reactive. Saudi Vision 2030 encourages Saudi companies to build international capability, form global partnerships, and bring innovation from the Kingdom to wider markets. The group’s ambition is aligned with that direction.

More than a decade of delivering technology to government bodies, large enterprises, and growing businesses inside one of the region’s most demanding markets has created a foundation. The discipline required to win and sustain client relationships in Saudi Arabia, the depth of delivery experience, and the operational structure built across Pakistan and the Kingdom, provide the basis for entering new markets with credibility rather than ambition alone.

The expansion is not a departure from the company's origins. It is an extension of them.

The original idea

Still at the center.

Everything the group does connects back to a single idea that has not changed since Smart Digital was founded in 2011.

Technology should work together. And the businesses that depend on it should not have to manage disconnected solutions from disconnected providers, or lose their implementation partner the moment a project is signed off.

Smart Digital was built to deliver reliable technology and remain present after delivery. TechQode was created to extend that principle into software and digital transformation. SmartQodes gave that software capability a focused identity. NuvaQode carried it to the UAE. The Innovation Center in Pakistan provides the technical depth to sustain it all.

Mr. Abdul Hameed Mousa spent the early years of his career learning what businesses in this region actually need from a technology partner. The organizations that form this group today are the answer built across fourteen years of that understanding.

What began as a security and automation company in Jeddah is now a technology group with an Innovation Center in Pakistan, offices in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and a presence extending into the UK, Australia, and the United States. The scope has changed considerably. The underlying commitment has not. The work is still about building technology that performs, delivered by a partner that stays.
